Colloquium Project - Fall 2012-Winter 2013

 

“Effective Windbreak Design to Control Soil Loss by Wind Erosion in the Nottawasaga Valley Watershed” for the NVCA Conservation Authority

 

  • Determined direction and time of year when soil erosion and atmospheric particulate matter from the NVCA watershed would be most damaging to the Lake Simcoe basin

  • Conducted in-depth literature review regarding historical and current phosphorous loading sources  

  • Data obtained from the NVCA and Environment Canada historic data sets and processed within ArcGIS and Microsoft Excel.

  • Results and recommendations to be consulted by the county and/or nearby municipalities as to direct future windbreak placement
